The now established Traditional Festival is organized again this year for the third consecutive year by the Municipality of Sotiras in a three-day program with different and alternative events in which the Cypriot traditional element is revived.
On Monday, June 30, at the Municipal Theater of Sotiras, the opening ceremony of the 3rd Traditional Festival will be hosted with a lecture on the History and Value of the Cypriot Dialect by the Linguist, Mr. Georgios V. Georgiou (from the RIK's video game) .
On Tuesday, July 1, in the courtyard of the Holy Temple of the Transfiguration of the Savior, a Traditional Feast will be set up with Cypriot traditional music, tsiattista, plenty of traditional food, tsiatista and an exhibition of traditional professions. Our musical entertainment will be undertaken by the Musical Band of Michalis Hatzimichael with the participation of Vasiliki Hatziadamou. Also, a music and dance program will be presented by the dance group of the High School of Peace and Freedom.
The Festival ends on Wednesday, July 2 at the Beach Amphitheater of the Municipality with a Festival of Traditional Dances of the province of Famagusta. The following dance groups will take part: Ayia Napa Municipal Dance Club, Paralimni “Anadysi” Dance Club, Sotiras Municipal Dance Club, Sotiras and Achnas Forest Youth Center, the Traditional Dance Workshop of the Catechism of the Congregations and the Congregation.
The Festival is under the auspices of the Cultural Services of the Ministry of Education and Culture and the Secretary of the Council of Ministers, Mr. Theododis Tsiolas.
All events start at 8:00 p.m.
The decoration is curated by the artist Fanis Sergiou.
