A Press Conference for the Completion of the "Mosaic of Cultures" project was successfully held today, Thursday, December 22, 2016, at the City Hall of Paralimni. The conference was attended by the Mayors of Paralimni, Ayia Napa, Sotiras and Deryneia, the Director of Enoros Consulting Ltd, as well as representatives of local organizations that collaborated for the successful implementation of the Actions of the Project.

The aim of the project is the active integration of Third Country Nationals (YTX) in the socio-economic fabric of the Province of Famagusta. In particular, the Action concerns the support of the process of integration of YTX in the local community, improving their capacity for social inclusion, cohesion and socialization, as well as the prevention of social exclusion.

The Municipality of Paralimni as the Final Beneficiary in collaboration with the Municipalities of Ayia Napa, Deryneia and Sotira and Enoros Consulting proceeded to the implementation of appropriate Actions and actions aimed at the integration of the HVAC in the Cypriot society.

In particular, the actions implemented concerned:

• Training and Education Programs: Computer, English, Art, Cypriot Dance Courses, First Aid Seminars and Seminars for the provision of care and childcare services for children and the elderly.
• Social Support Programs.
• Intercultural / artistic events - festivals.
• Actions to develop the sense of acceptance and understanding of citizens in diversity.
• Actions related to the exchange of views, good practices and know-how.
• Social Orientation Program.
• Create a Service Guide.

Through the above actions, a total of 80 Third Country Nationals who legally reside in the Free Zones of the Province of Famagusta benefited. In the context of the Press Conference, the main results of the Project were presented, which focus on the active and equal participation of YTX in the social web, improving the provision of opportunities for socialization and interaction with local communities.

It should be noted that the project, which is co-financed by the Asylum, Immigration and Returns Fund and the Republic of Cyprus, is the first substantially joint effort of the local authorities of the Province of Famagusta, to achieve a common goal.
