Protaras: A substation of the EAC was engulfed in flames

The EAC substation on Lefkollas Street in Protaras was engulfed in flames.

Specifically, according to the Fire Service, at 00.30 a call was received for a fire in a high voltage power converter in the area, in a building measuring 10 X 4 meters which is installed in a hotel yard.

The Famagusta Fire Station responded with 2 vehicles and the fire was brought under control at 01.40. There was a power outage by the A.H.K. and then the fire was extinguished with a dry powder fire extinguisher. The fire was most likely caused by an electrical fault. The exact causes will be investigated by the Cyprus Electricity Authority.

In addition, the Fire Brigade from 06.00 on June 9, 2017 until 06.00 on June 10, 2017 responded to 34 calls for help, 20 fires, 11 special services and 3 fake calls.

As the Service informs, at 02.30 a call was received for a car accident on Kifissias Street in Paliometocho. The Lakatamia Fire Station responded with a team and a rescue vehicle.

A MERCEDES SPRINTER commercial vehicle crashed into a house wall and came to a standstill. The Fire Department did not need to use hydraulic rescue tools to trap the occupant. The First Aid and assistance was provided to the staff of the Ambulance Service for placing it on an immobilization board and then transporting it by ambulance to the T.A.E.P. of the Nicosia hospital.
