The first defendant in the case of the quadruple murder of Ayia Napa, Marios Christodoulou, otherwise known as Benny, pleaded guilty before the Permanent Criminal Court of Larnaca - Famagusta.

Tuesday's trial began with Michalis Pikis, Marios Christodoulos' defense attorney, telling the court of his client's intention to change his response to the allegations he was facing from non-admission to admission.

Elli Papagapiou, a representative of the Prosecution Authority, stated that after the careful study of the indictment and with the instructions of the Attorney General of the Republic, the 1st accusation that Marios Christodoulou was facing was suspended.

The President of the Criminal Court stated that after this development, the accused was acquitted of the charge which involved a conspiracy to commit murder.

Mrs. Papagapiou then read the 17 accusations faced by Marios Christodoulou, who responded positively to each of them.

Specifically, Christodoulou admitted four charges related to premeditated murder of Theofanis Theofanous, otherwise Kalopsidioti, Elias and Skevis Hatziefthymiou and Yani Vogli, two charges for attempted murder of Giorgos Charalambous and Panagiotis Kallivionis for bodily Charalambous and Panagiotis Kallitsioni, three charges related to conspiracy to commit a crime, ie premeditated murder of Alexis Mavromichalis, Joseph Joseph otherwise Sifi and Christos Dimitriou otherwise Tsiakka, possession of a firearm of type A, ie pistol type A AK47, illegal possession of category B ammunition, ie 34 rounds, illegal possession of category A ammunition, ie 47 rounds, car theft and car arson.

Marios Christodoulou's defense attorney told the court that his client was at the disposal of the investigating authorities to testify as a prosecution witness.

The President of the Criminal Court set tomorrow 12/4/2017 as a date for reading facts and imposing a sentence on Marios Christodoulou. The process will take place at 12 noon.

It is noted that Michalis Pikis would proceed today with the examination of the prosecution witness Sofia Grigoriou, but after the significant developments in the case, he was finally examined by the defense attorneys of the other two accused, Panagiotis Pentavkas and Loy Dejan.

Grigoriou, a former defendant in the case, entered the courtroom wearing a bulletproof vest and accompanied by armored MMAD police officers who also wore bulletproof vests.

It is recalled that Sofia Grigoriou, 29, on March 30, pleaded guilty to the charge of conspiracy after committing a criminal offense in the case and the Criminal Court sentenced her on April 3 to 12 months in prison.

It is also noted that after the confession of Marios Christodoulos, the accused in the case of the quadruple murder of Ayia Napa are now Panagiotis Pentavkas 38 years old and Loy Dejan 42 years old, who face together the accusations of conspiracy for murder, premeditated murder, attempted murder. , acts intended to cause grievous bodily harm, possession of a Class B firearm, possession of a Class A firearm, possession of a Class B firearm and possession of a Class A firearm.
