Arrest of suspect in the murder in Deryneia - He was trying to escape to the occupied

An Indian man, who is allegedly involved in the murder case of his compatriot in Deryneia, was arrested last night at the Pergamon roadblock by the British Bases of Dhekelia, while he was trying to cross into the occupied territories.
 
According to the Police, a testimony emerged yesterday that in the attack that was made by five Indians against six of their compatriots in the early hours of Wednesday in Deryneia, the 21-year-old Indian was involved, against whom an arrest warrant was issued.
             
Around 21.10 yesterday, the 21-year-old was stopped by members of the police of the British Bases of Dhekelia at the Pergamon roadblock, territory of British Bases, in his attempt to cross into the occupied areas.
 
 The 21-year-old was accompanied by two Pakistani nationals, who took him to the roadblock by car.
 
The three people were arrested by the Police of the British Bases and are expected to be brought before a court today for the process of handing them over to the Cypriot authorities.
 
Arrest warrants were issued against the two Pakistanis last night.
 
Police are continuing their search for the five Indians who allegedly attacked six of their compatriots in an apartment in Deryneia, with knives, iron bars, axes and wooden bats.
 
The attack resulted in the death of a 23-year-old, the serious injury of a second, while two other Indians were slightly injured.
 
Arrest warrants were issued against two Indians aged 21 and 24 on Wednesday, while the details of the other two, aged 21 and 23, were identified yesterday and the Police proceeded to issue arrest warrants.
 
The names and photos of the four wanted persons have been placed in the alert list.
 
Until yesterday, the details of the fifth Indian had not been identified and the Police are gathering information in order to issue an arrest warrant for him as well.
 
The Police requested the assistance of the Bi-Community Committee on Crime and Criminological Issues, in order to investigate whether the wanted persons escaped to the occupied areas from places not controlled by the Republic of Cyprus.
