Three Russians were arrested

Spira, who extorted services and goods using fake credit cards, believes that the Police have dismantled the arrest of three Russians…

"It is believed that this is a spiral", said the spokesman of the Larnaca Police Directorate, Lieutenant Christos Andreou, "which, using cards received as evidence, would provide services and goods from various stores both in Larnaca and in the free area A ».

A JCC Risk Management Officer, he continued, complained "yesterday afternoon that a fake credit card was being used in a specific store. Members of TAE Larnaca immediately went to the store, it was an optics store, where it was found that three people, who had already left it, had bought two frames of glasses worth 240 euros, using a fake credit card, which they had previously used in a restaurant in Larnaca. .

From examinations carried out in the surrounding area, Mr. Andreou added, "three foreigners aged 25, 26 and 40 were identified, who corresponded to the given description and were taken to the offices of TAE Larnaca. Interrogators denied any involvement in the case, while after the investigation that followed, they were found in their possession and in their car the two pairs of glasses, which had been purchased using a credit card. All three were arrested for crimes of forgery, circulation of forged documents and securing goods with false representations ".

He then said, "They were taken to the free area of Famagusta, where they appear to have been staying for the last few days, and under an arrest warrant, the apartments where they live were searched, where a number of credit cards believed to be counterfeit were found and received, as well as various other goods, believed to have been purchased using these credit cards ".

The suspects themselves, according to the Spokesperson of AD Larnaca, "deny any involvement, while they are expected to be brought before the District Court tomorrow for the issuance of a pre-trial detention order. From the investigations that have been done, it seems that these persons have used a number of credit cards which are counterfeit both in Larnaca and in the free area of Famagusta. Specifically, it seems that the specific cards have been issued in 20 stores in the free area of Famagusta and in two in the area of Larnaca ".

As he said, "it seems that the specific persons had arrived in Cyprus on May 30 and would leave on June 4."

Answering a relevant question, Mr. Andreou said that "by using the credit cards until yesterday when they were arrested, they seem to have secured various goods and services totaling 5.000 euros".
