Explosive fuel prices are leading to increases in taxi fares since, as motorists say, the industry has been driven to "suffocation".

The Motorists' Union after the meetings it had with the leadership of the Ministry of Transport raised all the requests submitted by SATA with a relevant memorandum on 13-05-2022, pointing out that the existing conditions (two years of under-operation due to the health crisis, increase of fuel price, doubling of vehicle maintenance costs) the industry has no other strengths.

Thus, after yesterday's meeting with the Deputy Minister of Transport, Michalis Papadopoulos, according to information from the motorists, the agreement was reached.

Based on the fare adjustment, the flag will drop to 1,80 from 1,19 euros, the minimum compensation is set at 4 euros, while the route to and from the airport "El. Venizelos ”.

However, official announcements are expected in the coming days.

However, based on the new price list, announced on social media by SATA, the new charges are as follows:

Start-drop flag: 1,80 euros (from 1,19)

-Single tariff: 0,90 per kilometer (from 0,68)

-Double tariff-Night: 1,25 per kilometer (from 1,19)

-Minimum compensation: 4 euros (from 3,16)

-Time charge per hour-Maximum waiting time 20 minutes: 15 euros (from 10,85)

-Airport-Athens Center (Ring) and vice versa: 40 euros (from 35 euros)

-Airport-Center of Athens (Ring) and vice versa-Night (00.00-05.00): 55 euros (from 48 euros)

"The increase is only the beginning", the SATA administration points out in an announcement, adding that in a short period of time what has not been done in the last two years has happened. "With our own pressures and our own arguments, not only have the closed doors been opened (this narrative also collapsed) but demands of the industry are being implemented, such as that of the invoice adjustment".
