There has been a lot of talk about wolves in Parnitha after a wolf attacked, near the Buffy shelter, the pet of the journalist and program director of Myradio Nikos Nikolakopoulos, who was walking with his daughter in the mountains.
The manager of the Buffy shelter, Giannis Helis, has in the past recorded appearances of wolves in the wider area and has even uploaded to his Instagram video with the wild animal near the shelter.
Giannis Helis, one of the people who lives day and night on the mountain, spoke about the reappearance of wolves on Mount Parnitha in the last decade and explained that human intervention has made wolves closer to humans.
Characteristically, he states in iefimerida.gr: "The wolves had disappeared from Parnitha for many decades. We first saw them reappear on the mountain in 2012. Unfortunately lately, in the last four months they have started to appear closer to humans. Without being an expert, I think they are familiar with the people going up to Parnitha. Possibly because the citizens leave garbage and find something to eat. Of course, a case of dog attack has not been reported again, but the truth is that they are now approaching areas where there is a human presence ".

Giannis Helis continues his description of the wild mammals of Parnitha: “We often see a specific wolf. Not too close to the shelter, but close to the car park. There we see him but also on various mountain trails. This is a lone wolf. He is quite close to the cars and many people have photographed him ".
"Do not feed wild animals"
"Unfortunately, the citizens who go up the mountain feed the wild animals. Mainly deer. This may be the case with wolves as well. It's wrong. It should not happen. We must follow the rules. Do not forget the animals live in their natural environment. We visit them. There are signs everywhere that say we should not feed them. There are rules in the mountain. In the past, Elafakia also attacked the citizens, but the issue was not made public. Unfortunately the wolf is a misunderstood animal and for this issue it has spread.
