Who was Costas Voutsas?

He grew up in Thessaloniki from a refugee family originating from the Passengers of Eastern Thrace.

The family surname was Savvopoulos, but "Voutsas" prevailed over his grandfather who made barrels and the barrels used to be called "voutsia".

When he started his career, he had offered to change it to "Veselis", but he refused.

He studied at the Drama School of the Macedonian Conservatory, from where he graduated in 1953 and initially took part in performances of wandering troupes (bouloukia).

He was the wife of actress and dancer Erica Broger, with whom he had a daughter, Sandra (1972). He has two other daughters from his second marriage, with Theano Papaspyrou, Theodora (1977) and Nikoleta (1979), with the first following his own steps in the field of acting. His adopted son (from a previous marriage of the third wife of Evi Karagiannis, former model and actor), Anthimos Ananiadis, is also an actor.

In 2015, Costas Voutsas had an affair with Aliki Katsavou, with whom he married on February 27, 2016 and on July 23 of the same year they had a son, Phoebus.
