"I hope you do not become slaves in his hands, as we did," the mother of the minor girl who died in October told the judges of the Joint Jury Court in Greece, which is prosecuting "Dr. Kontos" and his 16 co-accused. of 2017 with a tumor on the head, which after almost a year of "treatments" of the pseudo-doctor "had become huge".
The mother of the child spoke about the "criminal nature" of the main accused, stating that "Dr Kontos" had a huge ability of persuasion, he played with them and assured them that if they strictly follow his treatments "you will see your daughter as a bride". The woman described the whole "scene" that had been set up, in private clinics, by the "distinguished oncologist", to whom they addressed after recommending the family of the boy who also lost the battle with cancer delivered to the accused's treatments.
After months of exhaustive "treatment" of the accused, as testified by the girl's mother, the child could no longer walk. "So he came to Athens with C130 in" Aglaia Kyriakou "in a tragic situation. Another doctor sees the magnet and says "there is a huge tumor". I replied that the doctor told us that the tumor had disappeared. They talked to each other and the doctor of the hospital, said on the phone to my husband “Please sir! We have another point of view ". There we realized that something was wrong. I thought he was a doctor lying about a supposed cure. "I could not believe he was not even a doctor."
The witness told the court, when she went up to the stage, that "I can only apologize to my child. We try to get to our feet because we have another child. This man was not only aiming for financial gain, but also for the satisfaction of his criminal nature. He wanted to see our child die late in a torturous way and us to be slaves in his arms. I hope you do not become slaves in his hands. No beast, no monster can plunder the last moments of a child. The truth is written in the blood of our children. "
Referring to the "sacrifice of my child who at least prevented other deaths", the witness said that the accused managed to persuade them to stop any other action for their daughter's illness.
"At the end of September 2016, he told us that the treatment for the child is ready. At first he was to see us in the hospital, but then he got on the phone and told us he was coming home. I was impressed that such a great doctor would come home, but he told us that he did not want other doctors to see him because he chose 10 patients a year, and they would like treatment for their patients. It was a complex program. The child had to take medication and vitamins all day. He had to take 13 vitamins in the morning and another 20 during the day. The child had a hard time getting all this. He could not swallow them. I called him and told him to adjust the treatment. She told me "if you want to show off a bride she has to do all this". "When the child had nausea and a tendency to vomit and I called him, he told me that he was coming out of the operating room and could not speak," said the witness, who added that the patient initially showed signs of recovery. "The child got up and told me he wanted to go to his room to listen to music. He was happy, alive. He tells me, "here the treatment is confirmed". In October we made an appointment at a private clinic, because he had a good MRI scanner. He sent us to find the doctor Mr. Z (now accused). There my husband looks for the doctor, tells him that we are coming from doctor Konto and he responded normally. He told us he needed a referral. He sent us to a doctor's office to get it. Mr. Z told my husband that Mr. Kontos is an excellent doctor and had helped his mother. Our trust was established as soon as we learned that a doctor also trusted his own man. During a visit he told us that the tumor was declining. Asked by my daughter if she would do well, he replied: “I have the responsibility of your life. "If you continue to treat well in the spring, you will go for a swim with your friends."
However, when after examinations it was found that the tumor had grown, the accused answered them when they called him that "the tumor is dissolving, it is not as we see it". In fact, the witness described that the "pseudo-doctor" told the 16-year-old, who ended up completely ossified by his treatments, to follow the path of their daughter. "Get treatment because Despina is going for a shot," she told the boy.
Dr Kontos, as described by the witness, received 19.500 euros from the family for the injections and preparations.
The witness also referred to a magnetic resonance test given to them and wrote "no findings", which they later found to be related to magnetic angiography.
When in January 2017 the little girl's mother, as she testified, noticed a change in her child's speech, the "distinguished doctor" replied that everything would be overcome. "Do not be afraid" he kept telling me, the witness claimed, while in a second magnetic in January, the alleged doctor claimed that "the child is doing even better".
According to the patient's mother, Dr Kontos did not hesitate to bring out inferior and completely inexperienced doctors from Germany, who, seeing the child's examinations, spoke of a relapse. In fact, as the witness pointed out, "my husband received a phone call a few days later from another doctor to whom Kontos would send the examinations, who assured that things were going well. I told him that the child was not walking. He used to tell me "do not be afraid of side effects". He insisted that we destroyed the tumor..We were looking for him to come and see her and he told us that he was operating abroad. He estimated that he would die. He tells you I will be late to appear, he will die ".
The witness testified that as soon as they realized what had happened, shortly before the end, she and her husband decided to punish him so that his action would stop. "He came from Italy saying that he had preparations given to him at the Vatican. I threw them in the trash but did not react so as not to disappear. He tried to persuade us to take the child from the hospital and take him somewhere else and not to listen to "the stars of Aglaia Kyriakos". Of course we did not follow his advice. The child fought until May 2017. He went through three septic shocks. We had already contacted a lawyer and he told us to keep in touch. But a few days later the pseudo-doctor said that he had been beaten in Italy and could no longer operate. Our last contact with the "Doctor" was in September. In October 2017, the child passed away ".
