"We are close" to the decision to abolish the coronavirus vaccination certificate, said the general secretary of Primary Health Care, Marios Themistokleous.

According to Mr. Themistokleous, the certificate is a given that will be abolished at some point in Greece as it happens in other countries and when exactly it will be judged by the epidemiological data and the relevant suggestion of the experts.

"The goal of all of us is to return to normalcy", Mr. Themistokleous stressed to SKAI, noting, however, that if the conditions require it, the certificate will be returned.

"We see that the increase in cases does not give a corresponding increase in hospitalizations. "If this continues, as the weather conditions improve, the certificate will be abolished in the next period of time", noted the secretary of Primary Health Care.

Everything is examined

Mr. Themistokleous did not rule out the possibility of temporarily abolishing the administrative fine of 100 euros for those who have not been vaccinated over 60 years. More specifically, when asked if the temporary revocation of the certificate could lead to a temporary revocation of the fine, he answered:

"It simply came to our notice then. The administrative fine is something that paid off and continues to pay off, because - even if very low appointments, at the moment we continue to make first installment appointments. All this is taken into account. The main purpose of all of us (…) is to return fully to a normalcy, but this is too early to set now ".
