The bad weather Elpida brought snow and many problems, while during it it is estimated that about 370.000 fish of 12 species died from the cold in a fish farm in the Drepanou Lagoon, in Thesprotia.

The above is mentioned in a post on Twitter by meteo.gr of the National Observatory of Athens.

According to the website thespro.gr, the fish died en masse in the Drepano lagoon in Igoumenitsa, when around 6 in the morning the water temperature reached 0 degrees Celsius.

The only fish farm of the fishing cooperative located there kept about 370.000 fish, most of which lay dead on the lagoon. The number of fish that are actually frozen to death, apart from fish farming, in the lake is unknown.

The phenomenon has happened again about a decade ago and in order for it to occur, such winds are needed so that instead of water entering from the sea into the lagoon, low temperatures also come out. Fishermen from the fishing department were found at the spot.
