One of the two fugitive kidnappers was convicted by the Athens Joint Jury Court of Appeals for the crime of incest against a minor, for a fee, to 6 years in prison, a fine of 50.000 euros and deprivation of his political rights for 3 years.

The Criminal Division of the Supreme Court upheld the sentence imposed on an alleged kidnapper, rejecting the appeal against the conviction of the appellate court. All the reasons he put forward were also rejected and at the same time he was not granted any mitigation.

In 2013, Roma came to Greece with his wife and their four daughters, the eldest of whom was then 10 years old. When they settled, they developed friendly relations with two foreigners and collaborated professionally in collecting cardboard.

Two years later - and specifically in April 2015 - one of the two friends of the family, in consultation with the mother of the 12-year-old, entered their house at a time when her husband and the other daughters were sleeping while the mother was absent. Then he urged the 12-year-old to follow him and she, after taking a bag of clothes with her, went with him.
He first took the minor to a house of his compatriot friends in Athens, where they stayed for 5 days and then took her to his own house, where they remained until May 2, 2015. The minor remained locked inside the house and could not leave alone. outside. The period from 24/4/2015 to 2/5/2015 came into natural intercourse - and in fact without precaution - with a family friend, while until then she did not have sexual relations with another man.

All this time the mother pretended to know nothing about her 12-year-old daughter. So she and her husband went to the police station and reported her missing. To make it more convincing, the mother gave a photo to the "Child's Smile" in order to be used to find her. During the disappearance, the mother communicated daily with the man holding her daughter.

Suddenly, however, she told her husband that after her own search, she located their daughter at the home of their family friends. So, they went to the Police Station and stated where their "missing" daughter was. As it turned out, the mother made this move as one of the friends did not fulfill his financial promises regarding the "sale" of the 12-year-old.

According to the Areopagite decision, the family friend had persuaded the minor "to follow him without her father's knowledge and after agreement with her mother in order to come into physical contact with her, providing money in return to her mother, to whom he paid 20 with 30 euros per day, while he had promised to pay her another 10.000 euros in installments ". He then justified the 10.000 euros he promised to give as a caper for his future marriage to the minor.

However, according to a police officer, "the consideration given and promised to give to the mother by the accused was a reward for his indecent acts with the minor and not a provision for a future marriage with her, as her father would know about the impending marriage. minor, but also the minor herself ". The mother, before telling her husband that she had found her daughter, had gone to their family friends' house asking for 500 euros in exchange for her daughter's "services". However, one of the two, who was convicted, told her he could not give them. On the same day, the minor confessed to her mother that she had sexual intercourse 4-5 times with one of her friends.

She, according to the Areopagite decision, "reassured her by advising her and telling her that everything was fine, thus motivating her to continue to provide the usual carnal pleasures to the accused, for which she (the mother) had received and would receive the promised sums of money and further aiming at the continued delivery of the minor's body to an indefinite number of persons in exchange for the exchange that she (the mother) would receive ".
