At the moment, an operation is being carried out to retrieve the body of the mother from the ravine about 120 meters deep, at the Karakoli site of Agios Dimitrios Pieria, while the girl has already been pulled out dead.
The car was located by a drone that flew over the wider area of Agios Dimitrios. The investigations focused on the specific area, at the 26th kilometer of the national road Katerini - Elassona from the moment a resident located the bumper of the car.
At the moment, police psychologists are close to the family of 17-year-old Maria-Ioanna and her mother in order to support them in hearing the tragic ending.
17-year-old Maria-Ioanna had serious mobility problems. She had disappeared with her mother, on November 8, from their house in Katerini. On the day of the disappearance, the girl was celebrating her birthday and the family, as stated by the girl's grandmother, was preparing a party. Nothing foretold what would follow. The information that became known the previous days said that the mother was in a bad psychological state when she had started with her daughter, to whom she had dedicated her life, for a walk. Just 26 kilometers away from Katerini, on the road to Elassona, the blue car driven by the 45-year-old mother, was found under unknown conditions in the ravine, at a depth of about 120 meters.
