The Greek Prime Minister, Kyriakos Mitsotakis, is going to Ilia on an emergency basis in order to oversee the efforts to deal with the great fire that threatens Ancient Olympia.
It is noted that the Ministers of Citizen Protection Michalis Chrysochoidis and Culture Lina Mendoni are already in Ilia and after a suggestion of the heads of the fire brigade, the villages of Lazoi and Linaria were evacuated.
Earlier, a meeting was held at the Maximos Palace in which it was decided that the armed forces would provide the largest assistance to firefighting operations.
"It was decided the further active assistance of the Armed Forces in the prevention and management of fires. "More specific announcements will follow at 12.00 from the Ministry of National Defense", it is noted in an announcement of Megaro Maximos.
