"I collapsed emotionally when I saw the child, no matter how much time passes, a part of my heart will have remained in that room", says with a broken voice from emotion the policeman Christos Vardikos in an EL.AS video that presents stories of police officers.

"Four police officers entered the house through the broken window and called for help. We checked the basement and went up the internal staircase to the ground floor. There we saw the dog house empty ".

"We checked the kitchen to see if there were any people there and when we went up the internal staircase to the upper rooms we saw the dog which was hanging on the handrail. There we realized that something serious had happened.

We went up to the attic. The door was ajar and we find that the woman is dead on the bed. Right next to her on the bed was the baby leaning on his mother. "Left under the bed was her husband."

"Colleagues solved the man, I dealt with the woman to find out if she was really dead and then I took the baby in my arms and put his blanket on him because he was only with the diapers."

"I held the baby in my arms for about half an hour. We got in the car to warm up until the grandparents came ", says Christos Vardikos, 40, father of an 8-year-old girl.

"This image has been etched in my memory of the baby next to its dead mother," he concludes excitedly.

His testimony was posted on the police channel, and is the 3rd in the series "Deep Blue" that ELAS has started, and in which police officers testify what they have experienced in incidents where they needed to manage very difficult situations.
