About 15 nuns live in the fraternity, all of whom are unvaccinated, the website reports Voria.gr.

According to the same information, a 60-year-old nun died of coronavirus yesterday, while a few days ago an 80-year-old nun also died of a coronavirus. The same sources report that some of the nuns are hospitalized in ICUs of Thessaloniki, one of which is in serious condition.

Information also states that one of the brothers who fell ill slightly has taken care of those monks who are seriously ill.

Indicative of the attitude of the monks towards the coronavirus is that, according to the same information, EKAB is called for transport to the hospital only in cases of recurrence and when the situation seems to reach the point of no return.

Characteristic of the situation prevailing in the monasteries of the country is the current statement of the professor of Pulmonology Nikos Tzanakis who stressed that about a thousand Greek monasteries are anti-vaccination agencies, with a few exceptions such as the vaccinated nuns of the Holy Priesthood of the Annunciation in Ormylia, Halkidiki and the Monastery of Agios Ioannis the Theologian, in Souroti.

The professor stressed the organs of the state and the EODY have to work with them metropolitans as the Church has both the prestige and the liturgical arm through parishes, ecclesiastical councils and priests, to make a difference to the unvaccinated.
