Omicron mutation: Positive the two suspected cases in Athens

With the Omicron mutation, the two cases in Athens that were put under the microscope of the authorities a few days ago.

The two cases that were characterized as "suspicious" and were examined by the health authorities were finally diagnosed positively in the "Omicron" mutation.

More specifically, on Saturday (04/12) the Minister of Health, Thanos Plevris, announced through his television interview that two suspicious cases of the new mutation were being examined in Athens.

"Apart from the case in Crete, there are two other suspicious cases that we are examining, regardless of the case in Crete. They are citizens who have come from these countries. They are two citizens who have been in Athens for a few days now, they have been ill and are now being closely monitored to see if they are sick with the delta mutation or the omicron mutation.
They show the extra features from the PCR tests that it may be the Homicron mutation. I want to assure you that everything necessary is being done to detect any cases of citizens who came to Greece before the measures were taken ",
Mr. Plevris had characteristically stated.

The two cases were closely monitored when they returned from South Africa with mild symptoms and underwent a diagnostic test.

It is recalled that the first case of the new variant in Greece was detected a few days ago in Crete.
