It was June 2016 when 14-year-old Tasos fell dead from the hands of his peer friend, at the Thessaloniki Bridge. A crime that shocked not only because of its savagery, but mainly because of the young perpetrator and victim.

Memories of this unprecedented crime are awakening again today in the Three-Member Juvenile Court in Thessaloniki, where the trial of the case in camera began.

It all started on the afternoon of Saturday, June 11, 2016, when Tasos went for a walk with his friends in the central square of the village where a concert was taking place.
The hands of the clock showed 11:00 pm when the boys decided to leave the square and return home.

Tassos took the road back with a friend of his age and, as he testified, a few meters later, their paths parted. The hours passed and Tasos did not return home. Anxious, his parents started looking for him without result and so they decided to report his disappearance to the local police station.

The next morning, the father of Tasos's friend, who was having fun together the night before, found his lifeless body, brutally murdered. A few hours later, the tragic truth came to light. His peer friend allegedly confessed that he killed Tassos with a kitchen knife. Cause of the murder? The quarrel of the two boys over which of the two families has the best tractor.

After his apology, the 14-year-old was released on the restrictive terms of attending a psychological program, being assigned intensive care to his parents and being banned from moving or staying in the village where the crime was committed. Today, the 14-year-old confessed perpetrator has moved away from the village of Gefyra and lives with his family in Thessaloniki.
