Wanted as a moral perpetrator in the murders of 37-year-old Russian mafia boss Alexander Solonik and his 19-year-old girlfriend Svetlana Kotova, which took place in 1997, he was arrested at the international airport "Macedonia" in Thessaloniki.
According to EL.AS., he is a 48-year-old Greek citizen, originally from Georgia. As it turned out, a warrant is pending against him by the Greek prosecuting authorities for the two specific murders. He was arrested on Monday afternoon, after arriving on a plane flying from Cyprus to Thessaloniki.
Solonik, one of the most wanted Russian mobsters-executor of "death contracts", was found dead on February 2, 1997, in a forest area of Varybobi, Attica. The perpetrators allegedly strangled him with a rope, leaving his body in the bushes, near the Athens-Lamia highway.
A few months later, in May of the same year, police discovered in Lagonisi, near the villa rented by Solonik, the body of his 19-year-old girlfriend, who was a photo model. The unfortunate girl was found dismembered and her limbs were found buried at a depth of one meter.
