A large fire is in progress that broke out from an unexplained cause in southern Corfu. The fire is dangerously approaching the houses of the villages of Neochori and Paleochori, which were recently evacuated.
"We have a problem, the fire is at a distance of one hundred meters from the yards of the houses," the regional commander of the Ionian Islands Fire Service, Andreas Rizos, told APE-MPE.
There is a strong force of the Fire Service in the area, while firefighting aircraft are also assisting from the air.
