Prices in Mykonos remain high, despite the drop in tourist arrivals, which is observed in the last two months compared to last year, during the same period. Charges for food, drink and other services are outrageous, with many tourists leaving the island with a bitter taste, as they realize that they have paid a fortune for a few days of relaxation and carefree.
A typical example is the restaurant with the "golden squid", which became the first topic even in the international media, when a group of Americans paid 836 euros for six servings of squid served with spaghetti and six iced beers, as a result of which they published their unpleasant experience. in the global online travel guide TripAdvisor.
Despite the uproar, the owners were not intimidated and continued to charge dearly for their products, claiming that it was a restaurant of high gastronomy and therefore, they have the right to sell expensively, addressing, as they had stated a few days ago, only to foreign tourists, who also have the corresponding wallet.
And it is a fact. The prices in Mykonos now seem to be aimed only at foreign tourists with a "thick" wallet, who may not have a problem responding to such amounts, as they are also now "pissed" about what awaits them. In no case, however - and this is a sad finding - can they no longer be considered to be aimed at the average Greek tourist…
So, according to two retail receipts sent by a foreign tourist to protothema.gr, it is found that the same restaurant charges too expensive even for a simple chicken fillet, which costs, more or less, 78 euros! A Tomahawk steak costs 185 euros and a fresh sea bass 178,50 euros.
In the first bill we notice that a cappuccino was charged 10 euros and a glass of white wine 24 euros. In the second retail receipt, dated 13/6, we find that a lobster spaghetti was charged 490 euros (!) And a soft drink 15 euros, as well as that a chicken fillet costs - if you hear it - 78 euros.
