Evidence proving that German pedophile Christian Brickner is the man who abducted and murdered Madeleine McCann has reportedly been identified by Portuguese authorities.

According to the state-run RTP network, Portuguese police investigating the wells in Vila do Bispo, an area 20 minutes away from the area from which the little British woman disappeared.

According to the same source, the rescue operation involved special firefighters and experienced divers who thoroughly inspected the wells.

The report that was broadcast, in fact, connects Brickner with the disappearance of another person from the resort of Silves in the Algavre area.

For its part, the Correio da Manha newspaper in its own report claims that no trace of the body of little Madeleine was found during the search.

Brickner remains in prison in Germany, where he is serving a 21-month sentence for drug trafficking.

The pedophile's lawyers have filed a request for early release with the authorities refusing for fear that he may disappear as soon as he walks through the prison door.

Brickner has also been convicted of raping a 72-year-old American woman in 2005 in Portugal, tying, gagging and torturing her with a metal stick before raping her for 15 minutes.
