The Turkish Foreign Ministry rejects and accuses the US of acting in the spirit of the alliance rather than condemning Turkey, on the occasion of the report on terrorism published by the State Department.

In response to Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Tanju Bilgic, the State Department said in a statement that Turkey's fight against terrorist organizations such as the PKK, DHKP-C, DAESH and its effective contribution to efforts in this area.

"It seems that the report takes an incomplete and discriminatory approach in this regard," the Turkish Foreign Ministry said in a statement, adding that the claim that rights and freedoms were disproportionately and unjustifiably restricted in the report was unfounded and unacceptable.

The statement concludes by calling on the United States to take a more consistent, decisive and effective approach to the fight against terrorism.

"US attitudes and rhetoric are incompatible with efforts to develop international co-operation in the fight against terrorism and in the spirit of alliance relations," he said.
