Dr. Petros Karagiannis was invited to comment on the issue that arises with the disagreements of members of the Advisory Scientific Committee on the measures against the pandemic. He stressed that this is not the right time for rivalries, adding that the final decision was always made by the executive branch.

"I believe that they are measures in the right direction, whether they are incomplete or target part of the community, could be corrected in the future," said Dr. Karagiannis regarding the measures that were decided. He, however, said that the unvaccinated are exposed.

"Under the circumstances of an increasing transmissibility of Omicron in the European area, sooner or later we in Cyprus will have similar problems. Those who are not vaccinated are completely exposed. "82% of the hospitalizations concern the unvaccinated", stressed Mr. Karagiannis.

Regarding the Omicron mutation, Dr. Karagiannis noted that companies are trying to update their vaccines. However, this will take even six months, he added.

"If these are five incidents, fine. I think maybe he is in the community. "We will see an increase in the number of cases because it is a super-transmissible strain, much more contagious than Delta," he said.
