At least two rockets were fired from the Gaza Strip into Israeli territory but failed to hit their targets, the Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) said. The incident comes amid ongoing violent mass protests over the US decision to recognize Jerusalem as the capital of Israel.

The news of the rocket launches first appeared in Israeli smartphone applications, urging those in cities near the Gaza Strip to remain vigilant. The IDF then confirmed that at least two rockets had been fired from the Gaza Strip "towards the State of Israel", but had failed to achieve their intended objectives.

The attack comes amid ongoing mass protests against the US decision to recognize Jerusalem as the capital of Israel, which has affected parts of the occupied West Bank as well as the Gaza Strip. More than XNUMX Palestinians were injured in fires and rubber bullets by the IDF during Thursday's protests.
