Unaccompanied by her father, Megan Markle will go up the church steps on Saturday, when she will marry Prince Harry, as she confirms in a written statement.
She "always cares" for her father and hopes he could be given the time to focus on his health, she said in a statement.
On Wednesday, it was reported that her father had to undergo heart surgery.
Her father was to meet the prince for the first time this week, as well as the queen and the duke of Edinburgh.
It remains unknown at this time who will accompany and hand over to Prince Harry, the chosen one of his heart.
Doria Ragland's mother, who arrived in the UK on Wednesday, may accompany her, as should Prince Charles, Harry's father. She may also choose to cross the aisle on her own, until she reaches the arms of her lover.
Ten bridesmaids will be at the royal wedding, while Megan decided not to have a Lady of Honor, as it was difficult for her to choose between her friends.
