Knife attacks are common in China, where gun ownership is strictly controlled by the authorities.
In 2018, a man attacked a school with a knife, killing nine children and injuring 11 others in the north of the country. He was sentenced to death.
In New China, fourteen of the injured children needed medical attention. Two are undergoing surgery.
