Charges have been brought against the comrade of Radouane Lakdim, the jihadist who killed four people in southern France last Friday, and was taken into custody, a court source said on Tuesday.

After four days in pre-trial detention, Marin P., an 18-year-old young woman who converted to Islam, appeared in court in Paris yesterday and was charged with "forming a terrorist gang with the aim of committing crimes," the source said.

Like her partner, the young woman was registered as "S" (surete de l'etat, state security) by the French authorities. However, during her pre-trial detention, Marin "denied that she had anything to do with the plans" of her partner, but when the events were reported, "she did not seem to be shocked", explained a source close to the investigation.

Meanwhile, controversy has erupted at the political level, while today the country will pay tribute to gendarme officer Arno Beltram, who "fell as a hero", according to French President Emanuel Macron.

The government yesterday rejected criticism from the right and the far right.
"To those who claim, unknowingly, that this attack could be averted, to those who believe they can promise the French zero danger, I reply: they take, with their lightness, a very heavy responsibility," said Prime Minister Edouard Philippe. before the National Assembly.

In both houses, lawmakers and senators paid tribute to the victims of the 25-year-old French-Moroccan Lakdim, observing a minute's silence.

This morning Macron will deliver a funeral speech during the ceremony in memory of Beltram.

In the afternoon, a service will be held in Paris in memory of the policeman, who will be buried tomorrow in Carcassonne.
