The page of Airbnb jobs was flooded when the CEO and founder of the company, Brian Chesky, announced that its employees can work from wherever they want forever.
The announcements were made via email sent by Chesky to staff, with Airbnb saying that employees will be able to work where they are "more productive" forever, without any pay changes.
"The response internally was astounding, but even more impressive was the response externally, because our career page had 800.000 hits after the announcement," Chesky told Airbnb's first-quarter results.
Airbnb is listed on the stock exchange and has more than 5.000 employees worldwide.
The new framework comes after two years of teleworking imposed by the pandemic. In order to maintain contact between its employees, the company intends to hold regular physical meetings and organize group trips.
"People are becoming more flexible about where people can work. We see this in our own work. "We would not have recovered from the pandemic so quickly without the millions of people working from Airbnb homes," Chesky said.
He also announced in January that he intended to live and work for Airbnb for several months.
Airbnb intends to work with governments and travel destinations to support those living abroad for long periods of time and working remotely.
