French President Emanuel Macron is firing one of the top members of his security team.
Alexandre Benalla was filmed in an amateur video intervening in civilian clothes and committing acts of violence against a protester on May 1, sparking a storm of reactions in France. While an operation was being carried out to suppress the incidents, Benalla attacked a protester who did not even resist his arrest. He had previously done the same to a female protester. When he realized that a citizen was recording him on video, he left.
The video was published by the newspaper Le Monde, which recognized the gentleman in question. The President immediately declared the incident unacceptable. It is noted that Benalla was wearing a police helmet.
