Russian journalist Arkady Babchenko, who was reportedly assassinated in Kiev on Tuesday, is alive and well, according to foreign media.
Mr. Babchenko appeared at a press conference on Wednesday on Ukrainian television.
The head of Ukraine's security services, Vasily Girchak, told a news conference that the "assassination" was organized to "expose Russian agents".
Mr Babchenko's wife had earlier said that Babchenko had been shot in the back as he left their apartment in the city.
The journalist apparently did not tell his wife that the murder had taken place. "Especially sorry for my wife," he said.
