Eight people have been killed, including four children, in a gas explosion at a house in the ski resort of Stzkerk in southern Poland on Wednesday due to a gas leak, local authorities said.
"It is with great sadness that I announce that we have identified two more victims. "It's even sadder because they are children," said Jaroslav Vitzorek, the prefecture of Silesia, where the tragedy took place.
Earlier, Vitzorek said eight people were in the house at the time of the blast. "It seems that this is the final report", but the rescue teams will continue the search, he concluded.
About 200 rescuers took part in the search operation in the ruins of the house, where a large fire broke out after the explosion.
The gas supply company PSG announced that before the explosion there was a drop in pressure in a gas pipeline, which may mean that it was damaged by projects that were taking place nearby.
