The United Kingdom "remains committed to supporting the UN process to reach a solution to the Cyprus problem in accordance with the parameters of the UN, based on the model of a bi-zonal, bi-communal federation with political equality", was the response of the Undersecretary of State for European Affairs. Wendy Morton, to a parliamentary question.

The question was posed by the pro-Cypriot Conservative MP for North London Matthew Oford, who had asked to be informed what steps Foreign Minister Liz Tras is taking with her international counterparts to help resume talks on the reunification of Cyprus.

Morton added that the British government considers this model "broad enough to address the concerns of both sides".

He concluded by noting that British ministers and officials continue to negotiate with all parties to encourage flexibility and compromise to this end.
