The Paphos Police arrested a 21-year-old man for obstructing a police officer in the execution of his duty, assaulting a police officer and illegal possession of narcotics, and a second 21-year-old man for carrying a knife.

According to the Press Representative of the Paphos ADE and the Head of the Paphos TAE, Michalis Nikolaou, today at 2:15 in the morning members of the Paphos Crime Prevention Ulam were on motorized patrol in the Chlorakas area where they stopped for a check a car that was being driven in a suspicious manner. The driver was a 21-year-old man and the passenger was also a 21-year-old young man. As the members attempted to carry out their duty, the 21-year-old driver allegedly obstructed them and pushed the members of the force. Subsequently, the 21-year-old was arrested for the offenses of obstructing a police officer in the performance of his duty and assaulting the police officer.

In a subsequent search of the driver of the vehicle, a quantity of green plant matter, i.e. cannabis, and a hand-made half-smoked cigarette containing traces of dry plant cannabis were found in a waist bag. He was subsequently arrested for the initial offenses of illegal possession and use of a Class B drug. The passenger was also found to be carrying a knife with a pointed end and was arrested.

The examinations are continued by the Paphos Police.
