Around 10 last night, there was a traffic collision at the traffic lights at the junction of Athalassa and Limassol avenues in Nicosia.

Specifically, a car driven by a 58-year-old man on Athalassa Avenue in Nicosia, under conditions being investigated by the Police, crashed into the rear of a vehicle ahead of him, driven by a 38-year-old man with a 30-year-old passenger.

During the examinations at the scene of the road collision, an alcohol test was performed on both drivers. The indication in the control of the 38-year-old was zero while the indication in the control of the 58-year-old was 102μg instead of 22μg which is the upper limit by law. He then underwent a final breathalyzer test where he allegedly did not provide a satisfactory exhalation sample.

It is noted that the 58-year-old, who was arrested and taken into custody, attacked a member of the Police, insulted him and kicked him in the leg.

The Nicosia Traffic Police in cooperation with the Nicosia Central Police Station continue the examinations.
