The Police are continuing their investigations to identify the perpetrators of the arson attack on the vehicle of a Legal Service officer in Paphos, focusing on what may have been recorded by closed circuit surveillance.

As the Assistant Police Director of Operations of Paphos, Michalis Nikolaou, told KYPE, the investigations of the Paphos TAE focus on cases handled by the public prosecutor before a court and on persons who were either accused in them, or who had appeared in proceedings for the issuance of detention orders.

Mr. Nikolaou also mentioned that the control of closed circuits at gas stations in the area adjacent to the scene continues.

Investigations were carried out, according to information from the KYPE, in the cells of sub-trials and convicts in the Central Prisons, in the context of the investigation of the recent criminal actions in Paphos, against public prosecutors as well as a police officer.

Besides, as Mr. Nikolaou mentioned, for the purpose of publicizing and preventing various criminal offenses committed in Paphos and mainly due to the recent serious incidents of arson against public prosecutors and a member of the Paphos ADE, a large-scale operation was carried out led by the Assistant Police Director Administration of Paphos and a total of 92 vehicles were stopped between the hours of 19:00 on Thursday and 02:00 on Friday.

These checks resulted in 24 complaints such as possession of burglary tools, while four vehicles were seized.

These campaigns, Mr. Nikolaou told KYPE, will be intensified, with the aim of enforcing order and strengthening citizens' sense of security.

It is noted that due to the criminal actions, the meetings at the Police in Paphos follow one another.
