239 migrants were repatriated this week – 814 since the beginning of the year

A total of 239 persons, who resided illegally in Cyprus, were repatriated in the last week (19/01/2024 – 26/01/2024), as part of the intensive efforts made by the Police to return third-country nationals to their countries of origin.

Since the beginning of the year, 814 people who resided illegally in Cyprus have left our country through forced and voluntary return procedures.

It is noted that in 2023, 9,699 third-country nationals were repatriated to their countries of origin.

Also, on Thursday evening, 16 foreigners left Larnaca Airport, accompanied by members of the Aliens and Immigration Service, as part of a joint return operation in which the Cyprus Police participates, organized by the French Police under the coordination of the European Border and Coast Guard Organization ( FRONTEX) for the return of third-country nationals who resided illegally in the European Union.

The efforts of the Police and the Aliens and Immigration Service to maximize the number of repatriations continue.
