Due to the weather conditions prevailing in the Troodos area, the members of the Police are on foot to provide any necessary assistance to the public, according to the posts of the Police on its social networks, Facebook and Twitter.
"Last night, the intervention of the on-duty police officers of Platres and Troodos Stations was needed in eight cases", refers.
It is added that "Due to the low temperatures and the frost, 8 car drivers were trapped in the snow with their cars and our members on duty provided them with assistance in moving and freeing the vehicles."
According to the Police, "In one of these cases, on the road Platres - Troodos, a car was parked, in which a family was riding and the passengers were transported safely by the Police patrol, to the hotel where they were staying in Platres".
In its posts on its social networks, Facebook and Twitter, the Police also states that the roads of Palaichori - Aska, Aska - Fterikoudi, Fterikoudi - are open only for vehicles equipped with anti-skid chains or with all four wheels in the province of Nicosia. Alonas-Platanistasas, Lagouderon-Xyliatou, Lagouderon-Saranti, Lagouderon-Polystypos, Lagouderon-Chantria and Lagouderon-Madari.
"The roads Lagouderon - Xyliatou, Lagouderon-Chantria, Farmaka - Odou, Farmaka - Gouriou, Farmaka - Aplikiou and Palaichori - Agros are closed for all vehicles in the province of Nicosia, due to frost. The roads of Palaichori - Aska - Fterikoudi - Alonas - Platanistasas, Lagouderon-Polystypos and Aplikio - Palaichori are open only for vehicles equipped with anti-skid chains or with movement on all four wheels in the province of Nicosia ", he adds.
In a morning briefing on the state of the road network, the Police announced that due to snowfall in the Troodos area and frost, all roads leading to Troodos are closed to traffic.
The following roads are also closed due to frost:
Morfos area: Pedoula - Prodromou, Pedoula - Pinewood-Kakopetria, Kakopetria - Karvouna, Kakopetria-Spilia-Kannavia.
At the same time, due to the slippery road surface, the following roads are only open to vehicles equipped with anti-skid chains or four-wheel drive:
Limassol Province: Agios Theodoros-Zoopigi, Agios Theodoros-Papoutsas, Palaichori-Agros, Agros-Chandrians, Chandrians-Kyperountas-Karvounas, Pelendrios-Potamitissa, Potamitissa-Agros, Potamitissa-Agrios Mylos,
Morphou area: Pedoula-Kykkou-Kambou, Orkonda-Kambou.
The Police calls on the drivers who use the above roads, to be especially careful and to drive at low speed to avoid road collisions.
