Fake travel document ring busted – Three arrested

The Paphos Police, yesterday Thursday in Paphos, proceeded to dismantle a spiral that manufactures travel documents, with the arrest of three persons, according to Paphos Assistant Police Director of Operations Michalis Nikolaou.

Mr. Nikolaou told KYPE that following information received by the Paphos TAE and related monitoring, yesterday he organized an operation in a courier shop based on information that fake travel documents had been sent and would be received by foreign persons.

Following this, Mr. Nikolaou continued, at 15:25 on Thursday, a 41-year-old person was seen, who received a package originating from Turkey from a specific courier office and was stopped.

Subsequently, the said package was searched, in which a Greek driver's license and a Bulgarian driver's license, in the name of foreign persons, were found hidden in polystyrene, documents which appear to be forged.

At 16:05 p.m., two persons, aged 36 and 45, went to the same courier shop, who received a package also sent to them from Turkey and from a check carried out on the package, again hidden in polystyrene, a Cypriot residence permit form was found Democracy in the name of one of the two persons.

The three individuals, a 41-year-old, a 36-year-old and a 45-year-old, were arrested on warrants and taken into custody.

The offenses they face are conspiracy to commit a felony and forgery.

Investigations into the case are being continued by the Paphos Crime Detection Department.
