The Police mobilized on Saturday morning (20/06), after information of a woman being injured by a sharp object in Strovolos.
According to the Police, the incident took place around 08:00 in the morning when, under circumstances that are being investigated, an 80-year-old man attacked his 88-year-old wife with a sharp object - possibly a knife - as a result of which she was injured.
Police and an ambulance rushed to the scene and transported her to the Nicosia General Hospital, where she is undergoing surgery.
The 88-year-old has bruises on her neck and wrist.
According to the latest information from the Police, the 80-year-old is expected to be examined by a psychiatrist.
Police are investigating an assassination attempt.
