On August 29, a meeting will be held with the Scientific Advisory Committee on the coronavirus, in the presence of the Minister of Health, in order to evaluate the epidemiological indicators and the new data related to the virus.

This was stated by the responsible Minister Dr. Popi Kanaris, who stressed that "there is no justification for taking any stricter measures in relation to the coronavirus at the moment".

According to the Minister of Health, "on the 29th of the month, the Committee will be convened and we will see if we will continue the measures in force today, which are the rapid test in hospitals and nursing homes", to note that "these are the only provisions that exist at the moment, as in many other countries.'

"There is no justification for taking any stricter measures at this time. We are monitoring the new 'Eris' sub-variant and are also alert for the new variant, which has been detected in Canada, Israel and Britain," he said.

As he stated, the Ministry considers that "there is no cause for concern", noting that it is in constant communication with the World Health Organization (WHO) and the European Center for Disease Prevention and Control (ECDC) and the data are such that there is no reason for any additional measures, either for panic'.

Dr. Kanaris said that the Ministry of Health monitors the data it collects daily and will give it to the members of the Commission to study, so that decisions can be made on how to proceed.

Besides, the Minister of Health mentioned that they have already updated the vaccination program for the next year.

"Already the program has been determined. Vaccinations will begin to be received from the end of September to the beginning of November for both her new vaccine Covid 19, as well as the Influenza virus vaccine," he said.

He further mentioned that the WHO says that it is advisable for this year to administer these vaccines together, to add that at the Vaccination Centers this year it will be possible for the citizen to receive them at the same time.

He said this concerns citizens who are over 60 years old and vulnerable groups.

He clarified that the Flu vaccines will be able to be administered by Personal Doctors, as before.
