The epidemiological picture of the country deteriorated, with the number of cases reaching almost 1000.
Speaking at Mesimeri kai Kati, Dr. Petros Karagiannis referred to the cases and the possibility of additional measures.
He initially referred to yesterday's number of cases, saying that for Sunday it was very worrying about it and he expects with fear that the epidemiological picture will be formed today.
Speaking about the increased cases in closed structures, he said, "It is a fact that under such conditions it is very difficult to maintain distances from those who live in closed structures. "Many of the people living in the structures have been vaccinated with at least the first dose of the vaccine, but with both doses being vaccinated due to the high transmissibility of the virus and the conditions too many of them will become infected by the end of the day."
He went on to say, "The positivity rate has risen sharply in two days. We went from 0,8% to 1,7% the next day. We will see how the situation will be shaped today and tomorrow to see how we will move later ".
Asked if there would be additional measures he said the following,
"I do not think it is necessary to close, what is needed is perhaps some restrictions on the numbers, to be more responsible in the use of self-protection measures and especially the mask. "Because this is a strain that is not so pathogenic if and if the health systems are not suppressed then we can continue with some measures to limit numbers."
