How do they proceed
Private schools are opened at will, since despite the decision of the Association of Private Schools to open schools, it is subject to each school individually to determine how it will proceed with others to open and others to continue e-learning.
As the President of Private Schools, George Kritikos, explained to Offsite, “The Association of Private Schools, which mainly concerns Secondary schools, has decided to open schools normally, however it is up to each school to decide whether to open or not. There are private schools of various kinds, the private schools that follow the public school program are obliged to listen to the instructions that the public schools will receive, that is, they will open and attend the Pancyprian exams. The other schools of different types may not open if they want, but they are all obliged to take final exams for their senior students ".
In statements we received from various private schools we were informed that there are all possibilities with schools that are thinking of opening for young children and others that open normally for everyone.
As stated by the Owner of Grammar school, Dimitris Grigoriadis, “the Gymnasium and Lyceum of Grammar School decided not to open at all for the continuation of the school year, but to continue the distance education. The courses and the final exams will be done online "
As far as the Primary and the Kindergarten are concerned, there are concerns for the return of certain classes, however, no discussion has taken place yet. "We have not yet decided whether Primary and Kindergartens will open and for what ages. There are thoughts to open only for the younger ages to facilitate both parents and children not to be locked up at home. We will try to find safe ways in case they open. The thoughts that are made are for Kindergartens and first, second grade to open. The remaining third-sixth grades will continue their online classes until mid-June, when the year ends. Decisions will be made in the coming days. "Our concern is for the return of young children if it will happen and how it will happen."
As we were informed by a competent source of the private school Pascal regarding the Primary school, the children will return to their classes normally. "It seems that the children will return to class normally, that was what we wanted. However, final decisions will be made at the level of the Board as well as the details of the operation. Of course, there are some difficulties regarding the placement in the classrooms, but as a private school we have the ability and the staff to organize ". As we are informed, the Gymnasium and the Lyceum will continue the distance education until 22/5 and then the exams will be held.
Exams for admission of students to Private High Schools
It is noted that an important issue that occupied the private schools was the admission exams of the children of the sixth Primary School in the Private Gymnasiums. As Mr. Kritikos informed us, these exams were arranged from May 16 to May 27.
