Construction: 18% increase in building permits

The building permits increased by approximately 18% on an annual basis during the period January - September 2021, with the value of the permits, however, recording an annual decrease of 4,6%.

According to data released today by the Statistical Service, the number of building permits issued by Municipal Authorities and District Administrations in the period January - September amounted to 6.008 compared to 5.106 in the corresponding period last year, recording an increase of 17,7%. The number of housing units increased by 13,8%.

The total value of building permits amounted to € 1,87 billion, showing a decrease of 4,6% compared to the corresponding period last year, while the total area increased by 7,6%.

By province, the largest annual percentage increase during the period January - September was recorded by Larnaca with 44%, followed by Paphos with 27,3%, Limassol with 13,7%, Nicosia with 10,17% and finally Famagusta with 3,25 , XNUMX%.

In September, building permits rose to 768, up 11,3% year on year. The total value of these permits reached € 206,2 million (decrease of 0,63%) and the total area of ​​210,7 thousand square meters.

According to Statistics, these permits provide for the construction of 907 housing units.
