The Assistant Professor of Pediatrics and Infectious Diseases at the University of Cyprus, Dr. spoke about the single-digit cases of the last days, the return of students to schools and the flu season on the SIGMA show "Front Page". Maria Koliou.
Asked if there is any concern with the reopening of the schools, Dr. Koliou said she is optimistic. "The reason I am optimistic is that I believe very much in the discipline of teachers and students when they are in the classroom. What worries me is when they are out. In schools, their distance of one meter, the open windows and doors, the washing of the hands, I believe that they will bring good results ".
Regarding the flu season, Dr. Koliou said that we should try not to coincide with the season Covid-19.
"We have to do what we have to do so that the flu season does not coincide with the covid season and the first thing we have to do is the vaccine, mainly from the vulnerable groups but also the small children. When the flu season starts, the overload of "Hospitals are a fact," he explained.
Regarding the resurgence of the pandemic in countries that have taken stricter measures, Dr. Koliou said that this is probably due to the opening of the airports. "When the airports suddenly opened and because people were reassured by the small number of cases, the virus started spreading to the community. This happened in Greece as well as in Cyprus ".
