A new case of child pornography is being investigated by the Police, whose members arrested a 23-year-old yesterday, in order to facilitate the investigations.
The investigation of the case started after information given to the Police by EUROPOL, according to which an account user on an online social networking platform, sent to another user of the same platform, three image files with material of child sexual abuse.
After examinations carried out by the Office for the Fight against Cybercrime, the details of the suspect, aged 23, were verified.
Shortly after 1.00 pm on Sunday, members of the Cybercrime Office located the 23-year-old in Larnaca province and proceeded to arrest him, with a court warrant. A mobile phone was found in the possession of the suspect, which was received for judicial examination.
The 23-year-old was detained for the purpose of investigating a case of obtaining and possessing child pornography, gaining access to child pornography and distributing child pornography. During the interrogation, he allegedly confessed to the investigators of the Cybercrime Office, the commission of the crimes.
The Office for Combating Cybercrime continues its examinations.
