Drug-positive drivers in Paphos - Quantity of cannabis in the vehicle of a 35-year-old - Two people were found by the Paphos Traffic Police driving under the influence of drugs - Detected as part of inspections

The Paphos Traffic Police identified two persons driving under the influence of drugs and for illegal possession of drugs.

According to the Assistant Police Director of Paphos, Michalis Ioannou, around midnight members of the Paphos Traffic Police were conducting vehicle inspections to prevent traffic accidents on Apostolou Pavlou Avenue in Paphos. As part of the inspections, said Mr. Ioannou, a car driven by a 35-year-old permanent resident of Paphos was stopped for inspection. A small amount of cannabis was found in his possession during the search and subsequently a drug test was found to be positive. A saliva sample was then taken for a final drug test sample which will be sent to the General State Chemist for scientific examinations.

He was subsequently charged in writing and dismissed to be summoned to court later.

In a second case on Sunday at 13:20, members of the Paphos traffic police, while checking Apostolos Pavlou Avenue, stopped a vehicle that was driven by a 20-year-old permanent resident of Paphos.

During a preliminary examination of drugs, it was found that he also had drugs in his saliva. He then gave an additional sample of saliva which after being sealed will be sent for scientific and laboratory analyzes to the General Chemistry of the State. A search of the 20-year-old's vehicle turned up nothing illegal.

The examinations are continued by the Paphos Traffic Police and the YKAN (Paphos Ladder).
