Duty-free tobacco products were identified and seized yesterday by members of the Limassol OPE in the context of actions aimed at combating the illegal possession, trafficking and trading of duty-free tobacco products and the fraudulent avoidance of payment of consumption taxes and VAT.
Specifically, during an investigation that took place yesterday around 6 pm, in a vehicle driven by a 27-year-old man in the area of Limassol, three boxes containing a total of 18 kilograms of tobacco were found, which were confiscated.
Both the confiscated items and the 27-year-old, who was arrested for an unprovoked crime, were handed over to the Customs Department, which undertook the further investigation of the case.
