The decision provoked a reaction from the Confederation of Parents of Secondary Education, which called on children to review the measures, as they have a few weeks left before the exams.

Organized parents of Secondary Education are invited to enter into a dialogue with a spirit of cooperation and prudence, avoiding taking extreme measures that lead to wasting valuable teaching time and recording unjustified absences. As noted, despite respect for democratic processes and the rights of students, they will nevertheless have serious consequences.

"Students in the second four months are entitled according to the Rules of Operation of Secondary Schools, only 60 absences", they report and add: "From January 13 we go through the second four months and the time for all students is precious. Especially for those of the 62rd grade, since they will attend the Pancyprian Examinations and have at their disposal only XNUMX school days to cover the material, consolidation, repetitions and preparation ". In closing, they urge everyone together to demand improvements in the examination system every four months.

At the same time, the Commissioner for the Rights of the Child, Despo Michailidou, expresses strong concern and concern about an incident that seems to have taken place at the Pancyprian High School of Nicosia and the Lyceum of Kokkinochorion Foti Pitta, where according to the allegations of PSEM to students to vote in the referendum. "If this is true, then it is a blow to the state's efforts to promote and protect children's rights and, in particular, the right to free expression."

At the same time, the Commissioner emphasizes that the institutions of the State have an obligation to give children the opportunity to freely express their opinion, which will be taken seriously.
